I've enjoyed top Google rankings for certain key words and phrases for the best part of a year now. While I've not been spending quite as much time on SEO for my site in recent months, I was shocked to note that since the middle of last week, I'm nowhere to be seen for these key phrases. The only pertinent fact I can think of is that a web site that has linked to me for a long time - well-structured links (excellent phrases around the link, relevantly related text, etc) was taken down about two and a half weeks ago. How do I know whether or not this is cause for real concern?
Welcome to DigitalPoint! Wait for a week or so, if you don't get your rankings back, go to find some good, powerful backlinks for your site.
The .com domain has a redirect to .co.uk. I've just noticed that for one of the key phrases I'm #1 on Google, but only if I set the search to scan pages from the UK.
tossedsalad, the reason could be because of your important link being removed - it is the site which had your great link is gone (especially if it is an authority site) you might also want to look at this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=332697 to watch out for factors beyond your control.
Try to optimize your page and build more quality links... Sure Google will notice you in no time....It will comeback...
Surely the site must be pretty well optimised and linked, else I wouldn't have had top spot for all that time? My concern is that the site doesn't even appear to be indexed right now.
How many incoming links do you have? What types of links are they? Do a Yahoo backlinks search, tell us what your number shows. M
try to check your competitors site and compare.. check where does he link and how many quality links do they have.. if you think it was outranked you,,, then do get strong quality links that you can link to...
you should be back up in a few weeks. i had something similar happen about 2 months ago. had to fire up the ppc account till i came back
