I run a Pet Community & Forums (as you can see in my siggy). I just recently found out that anchored links are what make you rate higher in google for specific keywords. Yes, I know- I've been a webmaster for 6 months and just found this out, lol. I'm learning, slowly, but learning. Anyway, does anyone know good places to put anchored links? Or are the directories the best thing to do? Additionally, "pet forums" was searched only 700 and something times last month (According to overture). Is it silly for me to try to rank high for pet forums? I feel like "dog training" or phrases of the like are SO competitive and how can I even get recognized? It seems so intimidating to me!!!
You can target 'pet forum' and 'dog training' at different pages. For example, you may have a page that describes the dog training in details for the anchor text, 'dog training'. For places to put up these anchor texts, you can try: 1. Forum signature 2. Web directories 3. Writing and submitting articles (in author's bios) 4. In the site itself, try to rename the internal link to descriptive anchor text you want to target.
