When doing incoming link building (links from articles, blog comments, directories etc) how many maximum words are usually allowed in the keyword? or can you have as many as you want , 3,4, 5, 6, 7? (with the anchor text BEING the keyword I am targeting the page for) Here is my basic made up example: 3 words- [this is my] <- 3 word anchor text 4 words- [this is my keyword] <- 4 word anchor text 5 words- [this is my keyword today] <- 5 word anchor text 6 words- [this is my keyword today from] <- 6 word anchor text 7 words- [this is my keyword today from google] <- 7 word anchor text I know EZA have a limit to Keyword amount in your EZA article anchor text, but generally how many max is allowed in the wide range of incoming link types? and usually, for those of you who do link building, how many words do you typically go for in your 'incoming link' anchor texts??
Well I don't really think there is an actual limit but i have never gone above 5. It all depends on your keywords really and how much competition there is. A good rule of thumb is in the beginning concentrate more on long tail keywords ie 4+ but also at the same time do some development on some short keywords too. Not only will this make it look more natural to google as you are varying the anchor text but it will also help in the long run. If you have aged backlinks that are for short keyword they are more valuable. This makes the transition from the long tail to short keyword a little easier, looking more natural and smoother than if you just did building 5 word then 4 word then 3 word etc.
i do max 5 but recently. maybe for practicing u can combining 3words first. in that example it just contain 3words minimal.
Just think, how many words will be in potential customer's query? It can be 2, 3, maybe even 5. Unlikely more than 5, but depends on your business.
