Mod NOTE: I reposted this from the keyword folder as I realised that this is more of an algo questyion rather than a keyword niche type of one. Hi everyone! I was just wondering how accurate anchor text has to be for specific keywords??? For example: I currently rank no 4 in google for the phrase - Expert Guides But if you run a search for the term - Expert Guide - I dont show up at all. Surely, if that term is already in my anchor text it would show on that search somewhere as well??? but im not located in the top 200 results at all. Any ideas why this would be???
you get alot more weight for the exact keyword, for example you rank a lot higher if your anchor text was 'car hire' for example, but could struggle on a term like 'car hire in town' even though you have the anchor text already. Enough inaccurate links and good on-page SEO will help bring a few round like your example above but the best way to go is to use the exact anchor text HTH
Depend on the quality content (consider the quality of link) were your anchor came from. quality and relevant content for your anchor will help a lot.
It is much harder to rank for Expert Guide as it is more competitive.. you can improve this by writing articles containing anchor link text, 'Expert Guide'
