Hi all. I think I read a great post about link building and what anchor text to use for your link. Seems like we all start our link building by using our main keyword as an anchor text. But is it really a natural way in Google's eyes? Often when people write a blog post or make a comment, they place a link like this "click here" and "visit this website". That looks more natural don't you think? So maybe it's a good idea to change an anchor text once in a while and use "check this source" links? What do you think?
I don't think it is a good idea to build a backlink with anchor like "Click Here" and "Visit this Site". I agree that you must use different anchor texts instead of using just one, but using anchor like this is useless. I prefer building link with many different phrases of my main keyword.
That can't help much to rank your keyword in search engine result page. Keyword in anchor text plays big role in serp ranking. So that means keyword as your anchor text is much weighted than by using "click here"
Using main keywords in the anchor text while doing off page activities for website specially directories submissions, article submissions, forum posting, blog commenting and social bookmarking will provide a good boost up in the ranking of the website.
You SHOULD vary your link text to a given page... You don't want all of the links to have the same link text because it doesn't look natural. However, using link text like "click here", "visit this website", or "check this source" is only going to help you rank for "click here", "visit this website", or "check this source", respectively. If you want to throw in a few of these so that it looks "natural" then do it. But know that these links are not going to help you rank for your targeted phrase. All they will do is pass a little PR to the page. Instead, you can vary your link text a different way. If you're trying to get your URL to rank for "car maintenance", use "car maintenance" as the link text say 30-40% of the time. The other 60-70% of the time, vary the text. I would suggest using varied phrases containing "car" and "maintenance" for another 30-40% of the links like "car maintenance tips", "car maintenance information", "car maintenance ideas", "car maintenance for summer", "car maintenance for winter", "tips for car maintenance", "important car maintenance tips", "useful car maintenance tips", etc. For the remaining 20-40% of the links use phrases that contain synonyms for "car" as the link text such as "auto maintenance", "auto maintenance tips", "auto maintenance ideas", ..., "vehicle maintenance", "vehicle maintance tips", etc. All of the above will help the page rank for "car maintenance" AND will likely also help your URL rank for lots of other variations of that phrase.
