Will something like (mysitename - big tv's) still have as much weight as (big tv's)? I see that many directories add your sites name to the anchor text and I would like to know if it makes any difference. Example: Digital Point - Pimp Graphics vs Pimp Graphics
Pimp Graphics would be better, though it's never a goiod idea to keep all your anchor text the same. Mix up diffenet phrases and have at least 2-3 completely different sets of anchor text for each page you optimise.
Yea. So far I am building links for a highly competitive keyword for 1 of my pages. I do vary, but I mostly target just that keyword because of it's potential. Im on page 2 in the SERPS so far. Goal is obviously #1. I was just asking because I didn't know if it had any negative effects when a directory adds the name of your site to the anchor.
Ditch your site name. There is no reason to use it in your anchor text as you'll rank #1 for your site name anyway. So only use your keywords/phrases in your anchor text.
Absolutely lose the urlname. Unless the url contains the keywords, there is no advantage in the anchor text. Best; Eric
Just a tip: Anchored text looks alt more styilish with you domain name in. By Doman name I mean DigiatlPoint and not DigitalPoint.com . I believe adding your site's name won't really effect, but it is better to not add it, but yet is more styilish to add it. :/ . So I, personally, would go with "Pimp Graphics - DigitalPoint". I also say this as it gives your domain name some authenticity as spam comments could actually cause your domain name to get lost in its own SERPs .
The first option is mostly used in Directories as directory name>category name. But for websites, it will be useful to go for second option.
People don't tend to search for domain names though - unless it's well known, so I wouldn't have thought it makes much difference in those terms.
Relevant question. My site is nearly-free-hosting.com (not up yet). If I use anchor text 'Nearly Free Hosting' will this include 'Free Hosting' for SEO purposes?
keep major share of the links with one anchor text. but distribute getting those links over a period of time and in that period also get different anchor text links to make it look natural. about you first question - yes anchor text NOT containing the site name would be better, it gives more weight to the text you are targetting.
Maybe but if you're site's domain name actually has the keywords then you probably people will serach for domain names .
