Anchor text problem for directories?

I have often found seo saying to submit anchor text in description field when submitting to directories but to my surprise, none of them accept anchor text descriptions. So what is the solution and how it can be done?. Some examples will help.

The problem as I see it with accepting SEO optimised anchor text is that if you have say a site promotion category then all the listings will try for "Search Engine Optimisation", which makes the category next to useless as it looks like spam not to mention the accessibility problems.

However some directories will allow you to add a keyword or two along with your company name providing you don't go overboard e.g. Fred Blogs SEO Canada. You'd have to look at their rules and existing listings to see which do.

I can't speak for other directories but in our case we allow up to 5 deep links and for these we do allow use of optimised anchor text providing it is relevant to the page and the links point to different pages.

At the end of the day the directory needs to be usable by humans and the text needs to appeal to humans not machines, as it is these humans that hopefully search the directory, are passed to the listed sites and spend money on your site.

Purchasing ad space in some form or other usually allows you more flexibility with the anchor text.

phpld ( most popular )and most scripts I've seen don't allow more than one duplicate title by default.
