This issue points to a "linking concept" that Goggle doesn't like. In these, there is a common "title", and "description" that is repeated over and over again during a given period of time. "Reciprocal Linking" comes to mind. So very the "title" that these concepts use as "anchor text". I have over 40 versions of my "brand" in Google Webmaster Tools. This is a mix of all linking concepts available today including Trade Show contacts, Vacation contacts that need SEO help, or the one that I get great links from "Oh, if you like the information, give me a link." Each of these will have a standard link format. The only one that gets any Google attention is in the Reciprocal Linking or Free For All environments. As for the SIGs in the forums, Google has no heart burn on this, but to be smart, change it once in a while. And for an Noob SEO secret, Recirpocal Linking is great for "branding" but sucks for "back links". Humn, is there an advantage here? Quality ("branding") vs. Quantity ("back links"). It is better to get 10 real links (verifiable) with you "branding" than 1000 links from Reciprocal Linking.
This is why it's good to link to other important pages on your site instead of just your homepage. Even then you want to mix up your anchor text a bit.
