Anchor text = more relevant results

    Hi everyone,

I'm working on implementing Verity K2 for a major Intranet. I want to use the parser that uses anchor text as a way to influence the relevance of a specific document, like the major SE do. I'm trying to convince my boss it's the way to go. He's willing to let me use the number of IBL as a factor to determine the relevancy of a doc for a particular query, but is reluctant to accept using anchor text as well.

Does anyone have documentation or research papers I could use to clearly explain how anchor text improve results relevance? It's pretty obvious when you've worked in the SEO business, but not so much when you have to explain how it helps to improve relevancy to someone who does not know about it. The irony is we'll be implementing Google as the SE for the Internet site soon! :D

    Thanks

    Dji
