Let's say I'm guest writing a blog article that will contain links to my website. Is it best to include one key word (anchor text) link to the homepage several times thoughout the article? Or should I use several deep-links with different anchor text? Will Google follow only the first link in the article, or all of the links? Thanks in advance for any replies. Cheers, fb
There is no such rule fro Google that it crawls only first link of article. If you will use home page link and also deep links with different anchor texts than it will be useful to your site. With one article you can target many urls with more than one keyword.
Do not use different anchor text for 1 url. Use different articles with different anchor. But I think lots of links in an article will not be very beneficial. Link only 2-3 anchor in your article.
make sure you switch up anchor texts and not post the same thing over and over so it doesn't appear spammy to G. For instance if you were an auto dealer in phoenix do auto dealer in phoenix, phoenix auto dealer, arizona auto dealers, etc.
Google will crawl every links as far as I'm concern. I agree with arizonawebdesign, just make sure you don't look it spammy.
I prefer to use 2 - 3 links per post. Those links would all go to separate pages. The search engines will pick up all links within the post, but too many links to the same domain in one post may trigger some kind of spam filter. By linking to multiple pages you'd be helping the rankings for all of those link anchor texts.
Since it's an article and specially on another person's blog I'd say go for multiple links on it, not over 3 tough and if possible link to your homepage and your other 2 main pages, and always, obviously, use the keywords you want to rank for as the anchor text on those links. 3 to 4 links (5 max) is the rule of thumb. Just make sure that they are solid SEOed anchor text links that match the Title of the page they link to.
It will crawl all links and will show onluy little through toolbar. But if u check through webmaster tool can find all
you can use different links that will help.. also you can change links and anchor text while your submitting same article to multiple directories.....
Honestly this is why a lot of people get confused on DP, so much crap advice being given out by people. If you are SEOs why not do tests on these kind of things? If you write an article and have multiple links to the same page but with different anchor text Google will only count the first one it comes across. This is why its best to links to different pages to actually make them count.
I remember reading it somewhere. Sorry I don't remember the source. If the same anchor was used for ALL the links to the targetted site, Google counts it as one link(Only pick up the first link). Matt(the google guy) was asked what if there were several links to one site, and the anchor text (keywords) was different for each link, Matt refused to answer that question.
