This was not answered in my last post.. so I will try again this week!

I own the site http://www.zelune.net, and I am #1 for a few 'niche' keywords, and am slowly expanding into the big terms.

I am going to try to rank for 'proxy' within the year, but I also want to help rank for 'proxy script', in which I am already on the first page, looking to move up.

My question is, if I use the anchor "Proxy Script", obviously that would help for that keyword, but does that also help for the anchor "Proxy", or does it have to be one or the other?

In the same question, would the anchor "Download Zelune Proxy Script", help for 'download zelune' 'download proxy script' 'proxy script' 'zelune proxy' 'zelune proxy script' 'download zelune proxy script' and so on, or ONLY "download zelune proxy script".

Sorry if that was confusing to explain... but I think you get the idea.

One word keywords are notoriously difficult to optimise for.

Two word keywords are the norm, 3 tend to be easy

To really nail a one word keyword you need to have a massive link back campaign using mixed up anchors, which include your keyword somewhere. That's for Google. Whilst MSN is much easier. Just do on-site SEO and a few backlinks. In all cases, it will be a long wait.

The best best is to go for proxy script first.

I think having the anchor proxy script helps you toward proxy....but be prepared for a long wait.....those terms which are more focused and specific are more likely to convert.

Damn, probably should have asked this question before I spent $300 buying links for 'proxy' :).

    Thanks everyone

it will surely do some good ... and you haven't wasted 300dollars ... every link in is good. The point is not to aim for "proxy" because you might lose hope. "Proxy Script" has more possibility.

This is true. I will contact some of the people that I purchased links on and see if I can get it swapped.

    Not all is lost ;)

The best thing to do is find high PR sites relating to you industry and buy some backlinks as a sponser. Send them a nice email, ask for forgiveness, do some begging, what ever it takes ;-) Try to avoid linking to none relative sites and sites that have not got much content.

it will surely do some good .. these we called "suppor keywords" in SEO.
It will indirectly help to the main keyword "proxy"
