Anchor Linking Format

I am wondering whether someone can explain why some people use this format of anchor linking - is it a better system or... I tried to google this on the net - but can't get any direction.

Normal Anchor Linking I use:
<a href="http://domainname.com/">Text Here </a>

I've been noticing this format as well - in other author's signature links,
Text Here[ /url ]

 

I to be honest have never seen the URL structure except in forums. I think it is a build in the forum software. is not an html tag. If you put it...s a forum coding thing or if you can actually

As noted above. Some Forum software REQUIRES users to use BB Code.

Also the reason why people mainly use anchor links is it does far better in the search engines.

So for instance you would use it for article marketing and at the bottom of your article put your main keyword in anchor text.
