Results of the recent PR update have been surprising for many - some new sites without extensive seo seem to have gained PR 4, 5 or even 6, whereas older sites were penalized. So, I was wondering whether there was some predictable tendency going on out there. To determine this, I ask those who received high increases in PR list what has been done in SEO within the past 5 months or so (since toolbar shows PR that is 2 months old). In a similar manner those, whose sites went significantly down - list what has been done in SEO within the past 5 months. Hopefully, we will all be able to learn from this and think more "like Google" Here is a list of questions: 0. What is the type of website? Blog, directory, etc. 1. What is the age of website? 2. Number of pages and approximate dates when added (last 5 months)? 3. What is the PR before update and after? 4. How many incoming links have you gained within the past 5 months? Was it all at a time - or gradually? If gradually, how many per week/month? 5. In what ways did you receive incoming links? -- artcle submission? If yes, was it single posted that was re-published/not re-published by others? Or was it submission to multiple article diretories? If yes, to how many at a time one unique article has been submitted? -- directory submission? If yes, what is the total number of directories? Did you submit all at a time/weekly/monthly? What is average PR of directories? -- natural linking? How many links did you receive and within what period of time? -- link exchange? How many links total? were links within your sites' theme? -- buy links? How many, what PR, where did you place them? 6. Do you have non-unique content on your website? If so, what is the percentage from the total? 7. List how many incoming links you have with: Homepage PR 9 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 8 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 7 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 6 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 5 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 4 PR of linkpage? Homepage PR 3 PR of linkpage? 8. How many outgoing links do you have that do not have attribute "nofollow"? On pages with what PR are these links located? The questionnaire does seem somewhat long... But I was thinking, that we could figure out a general tendency outgoing here and, then, perhaps, having idetified and determined the general tendency in PR rankings, would go into detail and then determine what are the actual factors that influenced this PR update, and, therefore, is the current ongoing trend in Google. If you feel like the questionnaire should have included other questions to denote the general tendency, feel free to add those and I will be adding those. Also, even though everybody is welcome to participate, I urge to answer those, whose results showed ABOVE AVERAGE improvement or deflation in PR, e.g. from 0PR to 4-5-6, or from 6-5 to 4-3... Hopefully, once we do some investigation, we will be able to think more like Google and work out an excellent strategy, which is what I wish to all of you, guys

I have submitted to some of the DP type directories. (say 20). Other than that, I noticed some 20 extra links coming in - but I may have missed a few. no. yes: as I said: some 20 over the past 5 months. yes, somewhere around 20 I'd guess. 2 - with very related sites. Added many links just out of the kindness of my heart no. 2% non-unique. no clue. I do have a few nofollow-type links. On a total of say 300 outgoing links, roughly 5 have rel-no-follow.

In my opinion, google tracks linking behavior more carefully and also looks more carefully for the degree of relevancy of the links.
