Analytics - Time Spent on Site

    Hi.

One stat I like on Google Analytics is finding out how long people spend on average on your site (usually because I'm hovering about the 15-20 minute mark on my blog, which is surely a good thing). However, I notice a lot of referrals score 0:00:00, which I assume are bots.

Is there any way to discount them? If so, how do you do it?

20 minutes  Do you have a porn site or something. I am at 3minutes and that's good compared to what I've heard from others

I have no idea. I do know however that a few of my mates who go on my site kinda leave it on in the background throughout their day in work

If it's a blog, he probably has pretty good stuff to read. If someone is reading through one or more blog entries, they'd be on the site for more than a few seconds.

Sitting at 10 minutes. Bounces really mess up the time stat.

but to answer your question. No they are not bots. If you had read before bots cannot trigger javascript.

So whats happening is people are clicking and then clicking back straight away (anybody want to say someone is clicking on their own ads?).

I don't advertise with anybody, so chances of that are nil.

why dont you check out the sites that are giving you referals of 0 time?

Typically they could just be link farms that have used your rss feed. Or links to generate content.

It may be someone who is highly interested in your blog... or he/she may be just wasting off your bandwidth.

the other thing is they might spend an hour on that page, and read it. And press back.

Interesting, 0 time on site possibly means they dont go past 1 page. I suppose it cannot calculate time on site till you have moved from one page to the next.
