it is said that microsoft will launch its self-owned brand mobile phone Project Pink. According to Jefferies analyst Katherine Egbert, Microsoft is cooperating with some cellphones manufacturers to develop one type of phone similar to Zune. This phone will be provided with high definition video playing function, and equipped with at least 5 Megapixels camera. She indicated, the cooperation between these cellphones manufactures and Microsoft is similar to the Android phone Nexus One cooperative agreement reached by Google and HTC. In addition, Egbert expressed, this Microsoft self-owned brand mobile phone will be based on Windows Mobile 7 operating system. In other words, Microsoft will release its self-owned brand mobile phone together with Windows Mobile 7. Egbert mentioned Windows Mobile 7 will cover some “special mobile servicesâ€, including Zune video store service, music order service, Facebook and Twitter etc. these SNS application.
Google Microsoft -<<< will see some serious war between these two in next ten years. Cloud computing is where they will smash, and then OS, as net books are mostly equipped with chrome... we have to prepare for the great ride we as consumers will benefit the most from all these giant clashes. Low prices and high class products, yeah baby!
Well with Windows already making an OS for mobile phones (windows mobile), it would appear highly likely. I used to have a windows mobile phone, and i must admit it was rather useful. It would be nice to see windows make a jump into the market, but I do wonder who they'd choose to approach, or would they set up shop themselves and go about making it.
I believe they will setup a shop themselves and go about making it. Microsoft sees the success of Apple on their Iphone.
It's a good idea, I do wonder though what their relative chances for success are given their lack of experience in mobil phones. Anything that can be done to improve the quality of services (and price for that matter) is welcome though. Competition is a great thing for consumers.
I hope this is just a rumor, they will be going into a field that is totally not their niche. It is best for them to concentrate where their niche is and where the money comes to.
I thought one of the reasons Google and Apple were feuding was because Google got into the mobile phone market and Microsoft and Apple were teaming up because of this.
I actually dont agree with that. Microsoft was the first company to venture into smartphones. Software wise I think they are absolutely ready. Windows mobile 6.5 is really nice and 7 is going to be great. The Zune interface mixed in is going to be a special bonus. As far as devices go, they are going to outsource that with special requirements to mainly HTC and other handset makers. Although, doing everything inhouse would have befitted Microsoft a lot, but sourcing the handsets with stringent quality and spec requirements should be interesting as well. Cant wait
Uh. You mean Microsoft was in before Nokia, Ericcson, ATT, Bell and countless other companies? No. Microsoft's first phone entry was in 2002. About 10 years after IBM made their first smartphone, believe it or not.
