Hi guys, in google I can see my competition for the keywords Im going for, but i dont see how they rank so highly. Any ideas what I should be looking at to see how they rank so high, so I can apply something similar (and better!). Cheers guys!
use keyword external tool, it shows the monthly searches by that you can have a clue how your keyword would work if it rank well.
Download TrafficTravis (free version), or MarketSamurai (trial version), or if you use Firefox browser download the SeoQuake addon. You'll be able to see the amount of backlinks, PR, domain age, in url, in title, etc.
Yeah... better you download free trial version of Market Samurai, you can check your competitor that targeting the same keywords as yours.
Nothing really beats manually appraising their backlink profile and learning to appraise each link. It can be time consuming but even if you find just a few gems it's worth it.
Once you know who your competitors are you should plug their URL into Yahoo Site Explorer and / or Open Site Explorer to get a better idea of their backlinks. Your research basically starts from there. All the tools that have been mentioned can be helpful in conducting this research, but if you don't know how to do it manually in the first place then these tools arn't going to show you much other than which pages have the highest PageRank.
DO some competitor analysis and check the places from where your competitor is getting links....than start linkbuilding against it..
IPB is the SEO Tool, you can submit one keyword and your domain to IBP tool then that will provide some more good keywords related to your niche and your competitors websites and more.. Just put google you can get a lots of result about IBP.
check their keyword density, alt, anchor, image title, meta tags, and links they are getting to rank their keywords.
There are basically three key on page factors you need to consider for competition analysis and they are: 1. Meta tags and titles 2. Keyword density 3. Special formats
