People are trying so many interesting strategies right now all in the name of better search engine results. I say interesting, because when it comes to creating better content for viewers, lots of these methods take one step forward, and two steps back. The truth is, a lot of us seem to be designing solely for the SE's, and we're considering our viewers as 2nd priorities. I don't mean to say I have all the right answers, but I wanted to offer my own view on SEO, and how I believe it could be better approached. I wrote an article over at my Blog about my "Be Helpful" Strategy, and how it can really make your blog/site more successful in the long run.
I say your right. Its the visitor after all that needs to find it useful or webmasters will have built it for nothing. SE's don't convert into sales, people do.
I disagree. Having people surf around, and repeat visitors, are just a waste of your bandwidth. The only people that are going to click the ads, in the most part, are extremely inexperienced users or by accident. My way is a little less ethical than your way .
And the reason why revenues go down and down, invalid clicks or non-converting clicks waste money, period.
Please correct me if I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to say: You think that the only people worth your time and bandwidth, are new visitors, because they're the only ones who will click your ads. You don't think repeat viewers will want to spend money on any of your advertisers? To me it sounds like either: Your ads don't match well with your audience. People spend money - it's a matter of matching the right audience, content, and advertisers. You're running a network that converts SO well, that people only end up visiting you once before they find what they want. You don't really have content that draws folks back, and the ads are disguised to look like the content to trick people into clicking them (hopefully not though). The top (profitable) networks, blogs, marketplaces, forums, etc are all driven by quality content. Maybe your argument makes sense in your particular case (I'm not sure what your site is), but it seems like a temporary solution with a weak foundation. Eventually, you'll run out of "New" visitors. What then?
What you are saying is actually true. Most sites nowadays are created for the sole purpose of pleasing the search engines and nothing else. The contents sometimes are so boring (well perhaps not for the SE) and it fails the purpose of providing helpful thoughts for the readers.
Hello TheLeggett, I just posted in your blog. It just made me realize that what I was doing before is the better path all along. Good day
