Hello, my friend lives in a country (not supported by paypal) and wishes to open a paypal account. He is soon going on a trip to the UAE (supported by paypal), where he might as well open a bank account and a paypal account there, according to his plan. I told him that it is a lil more complicated, but he said he'll do it and verify his account from there. Ok, so now the issue we see here, is that it might be risky for him to login to his verified paypal account from his home country (not supported by paypal). He plans to do the first few logins from the UAE, but he'll be returning to his home country eventually, and we were wondering if paypal does pay close attention to login locations. It might be ok, since many people travel from place to place. Any inputs / suggestions, appreciated. Thanks.
If your friend going to operate pp account from unsupported country then i suggest him/her to stay away from paypal and go with alternative payment processor. DON.
Whether he has opened his acc in a supported country or not. When his Geo-location changes, the PP will limit it and ask to verify it. Even if he appeals that he had opened it in UAE and produces documents, by US law, paypal is not allowed to support the list of countries updated on its website, then they don't support it. So this has nothing to do with PP, it is with any US, UK, AUS websites, they are not supposed to support the countries specified by the law, which have a high risk.
What if he doesn't wanna change his paypal address (the UAE one he used to open his paypal account), but only after a month or two started to "login" once in a while from that unsupported country? I'm not sure, but I think people with verified paypal accounts have done it in the past, when they are traveling across countries. P.S. What if he doesn't login to his paypal account, except when for the few first logins when he is opening it and while he is in the supported country. If he doesn't login to his PP account for, say 6 months or so, before he logs in again... is it still a no no?
Surely, if you are going to login PayPal from a country not supported by him, then you will be in trouble.
I am not sure about that. As IP changes significantly, paypal may assume that someone is accessing your account from a remote location and can put your account for LIMITED ACCESS for your account security. You will be asked to submit address proof documents to restore access to your account. I would suggest you to use a proxy to create account and verify it. Use SAME proxy everytime you access your PP account. In this way, the chances of getting banned are very low.
@MrBoss, That is the worst way of signing up on Paypal, using a proxy. Remember, if you have done it in the past, then it woudn't work always, becos PP is not dumb. They have their dev and research team clocking several hours to beat scamsters and ppl using proxies. Mr andy... listen, my advice or anyone who has used PP extensively here or on any other forum, can only tell you, avoid using proxy or signing up from unsupported countries. You may beat the system, a few times, but eventually if your friend is planning to use it for a long time, he might forget to use the proxy or do the XYZ procedures before logging into his account, then BAMM!!! account will be limited, and then if he has a huge sum in his account, then PP will definitely say, Get Lost!! We warned you. Read our TOS. So, it's upto you to decide. We can only advice.
Ok, thanks cool_PTC and the rest of you... I've actually told him it is risky, but seems he doesn't wanna back off. His best bet, I think, is to open from a supported location.. AND login from a supported location.... so that might be like a login every 3 months or so, lol when he has the time to visit that supported country again. Not practical, but the safest way I guess. Hope paypal doesn't give him a hard time for not logging in for a while.
Ptc cool is right if you are from unsupported country & also you open it from that country then paypal will limited ur ac randomly ...
