Out of personal curiosity I decided to do some basic research to find a percentage of total web users whom block advertisements. For this study I focused on the most popular ad blocking technique (AdBlock Plus on Firefox). Using calculations of the average daily users of Firefox (with ad block plus), and the Market share of Firefox (all in the first quarter of 2009). I was able to calculate that 2.25% of all web users block advertisements using Ad Block Plus. I realize this study is not perfect, as there are other ad blocking techniques to consider. However it looks as if less than 5% of all web users block ads! All of the number and how I calculated this can be found at: What percentage of Web Users Block Advertisements. Does anyone have any thoughts? What this what you expected or do you think more people block ads?
