@Nick-- Thankx for the reply. And enjoy ya honeymoon. You are in the same experiment as i am doing. We will keep updating if it works or not. But as i know, if you are planning to create ur site for monetizing via adsense, i think buying backlinks are dangerous as they dont like it. SO, i am targeting for natural link building...Anyway, hope to work together in some course of time in future... as we can be huge by sharing our ideas and knowledge ( sharing is caring)
    Cheers!!!

Cheers for all teh good luck messages etc!

    So what happened this weekend?

    Two things.

Well a lot of things actually, including Wales beating England (making me a very happy man), me getting very drunk and me having a hangover. But in relation to this thread...both not a lot and a fair bit at the same time.

Not a lot meaning not huge amounts of work done. But what was done was pretty big.

    1) the site went live with 15 Articles, all 600+ words, most 700+
    2) I bought a site wide backlink from a PR3 site in a related niche (only $10 every 3 months from a DP member)

More interestingly (more interesting than the site going live!) I decided to launch another site alongside this one, which I will also be using to develop into an authority site. This one is actually using a brand new domain, I thought it would be interesting to compare how the two go. It is within a niche I have a lot of interest in and been thinking about how to break for awhile. I've had an eye out for an expiring domain that was suitable but nothing has come up in months, so I'm registering a new one.

As with the other domain I will not be revealing it, though it is also in the health niche (a niche I have any number of sites in).

What I have done with this one

    1) All the keyword research - 15 articles worth plus sub keywords
    2) Set up wordpress, the theme etc
    3) Got up 3 x 700 word articles already. I will be adding more day on day until I reach 15.

The 1st site will now have 2 or 3 articles a week added. The 2nd site will have a few a day added until 15 articles, when it will also settle down to 2 or 3 a week

    Todays tasks

    1) Order a Xrummer blast for site #1
    2) Set up a Twitter account for site #1 and use some tools to autofollow a bunch in the niche (we want followbacks)
    3) Write at least 2 more articles for site #2

that should do it for now

Been just over a week and a lot has happened. Part of this case study has fallen flat on it's face...the established domain I bought and developed I have since sold for a tidy(ish) profit. Usually I would have been tempted to keep it but with the wedding almost exactly a month away every penny counts!

so that leaves the new domain I set up as an after thought. But thinking about it this is a good thing - as I suspect that many people reading this would likely be using a new domain rather than purchasing an old one via auction sites.

So where am I with that?

Not a huge amount further on, but some interesting developments.

The site now has 5 articles on it, 4 x 700+ words and one of about 600 words or so. The good news is that whilst it is not getting any clicks yet it IS getting traffic. well one of the articles is. For the last 3 days I have had about 30 or so visitors a day, almost all brought in by the one article.

What is especially interesting is that whilst all the search terms that have brought visitors to my site are related to the main keyword (and in some cases are minor keywords I chose to target), the actually target keyword is still barely ranking - somewhere around the #40 mark. For me this shows the importance of long, well produced articles for helping bring in search engine traffic for terms your site is not optimised for.

So now it is a case of blasting away at some articles for this site, and considering maybe buying another domain via auction to again test the aged domain concept.

    I'll try keep this updated

    Nick
