I often try to think of a great idea for a book. Everyone would want to write a book in their lives wouldn't they? I enjoy reading thrillers, so I guess I'd like to do something along those lines. Apparently is hard to write books for children. If you were to write a book, what type would it be. Romance (would you write a sex scene in it, and hide it from your mum )? Comedy or perhaps a biography, or nature book? Would you base it on your own experiences in life?
If writing and publishing actually paid then maybe I'd sit down and spew words, but the odds of making anything in that winner-take-all field remain almost zero. Of course if you're Dan Brown or J.K. Rowling you've done well, but there can only be so many of those. The vast majority of writers don't make a living on writing alone. It's too bad, there's probably a lot of great ideas out there that will never see sunlight because there's no real benefit in it.
