Amount of Links on Page Google Crawls

I heard that the Google Crawler can only crawl up to 100 links on a single page? Meaning any more then 100 links on a page will not get crawled. Is this true and if its not 100 is there an estimated number of links it stops at?

    Thanks

Google recommends 100 as a reasonable amount of links.

Having 100 links on a page isn't very good for your visitors, is it?

I'm no authority on this, but IMO google may see pages with over 100 links on it as have less value per link. Think of it like a pie. So it's more a matter of "Do I want fewer links that are given more value by Google, or do I want a lot of links that are given less?" The more links, the harder it is going to be for a user to find the site they want, therefore google simply must hold less value per link on the page.
