    Hi
I have 5 google adsense ads on my homepage - is that too much and could it be detrimental to high-paying ads in some way. i.e. the more ads the less chance of someone clicking on a high-payer?

Three should be the max. Works for me.

Anything more than three ad units is against Google's rules: "Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page."

Sorry, I meant 5 separate ads - in two units. One unit of four and a single ad. Too much?

it really depends on your topic.

I've had sites where I can max out the ads and get a decent CPC still, but I've also had sites where limiting myself to just two ads seems to work best. you can always tweak and experiment. the downside is it might change again when more players start bidding on those keywords / google changes something :)

Keep the design of the site in your mind as well. I try not to overdo the ads especially when it's detrimental to the user experience. You can always change it up and keep track of the stats and see what pays better :)

My topic is in the 'paranormal' area and I get quite a few ads for psychics etc. Thanks all for those opinions - will fiddle around with the ads a bit and see what happens.
