i agree blogmaster. but i don't think shoe manufacturers can be held responsible for someones inability to balance thier money.

People need to take responsibility for themselves.

The luxury brands that I'm talking about are Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci and Prada costing in excess of $1,000 not a pair sneakers.

People can't pay their mortgage and expect a government bailout of their mortgage.

Read the article my friend. We are told that the Luxury brands are handmade in Europe by artisans and worth $1,000 or more when the goods are made in China or Chinese slave labor in Italy making as little as 2 euros an hour.

So what? You don't want the government to take responsibility for someone financial situation but you want a manufacturer to take responsibility? Take responsibility for yourself and you own damn money. If you can't afford designer goods worth $1,000, Don't buy them.

People can buy what they want.

I'm saying to Americans: "Don't be fooled, expensive Italian leather goods are made in China"

So what difference does it make regarding their ability to pay their mortgage?
If they don't have $1000 to spare then they don't have it to spare regardless if the good are made in italy, china or my shed.

It's all connected. The US is running a 750 Billion dollar trade deficit, a subprime meltdown and a 400 billion budget deficit.

Well certainly when brands are advertised as 'made in Italy' when in fact they are made in China people are being fooled.

Logic is failing you entirely. If people can't afford $1000 and are failing to pay thier mortgages like you suggested, What difference does it make where the $1000 item is manufactured?

No, it's the banks and advertising professionals who make sure people spend what they have and what they will have in the future. ;)

People need to educate themselves. $1,000+ USD for a leather bag or jacket is a lot of money.

I buy my leather A-2 jackets at the Avirex Outlet Store. The Jackets are made in USA and you get a good price. I've paid around $125-$150 each for a horsehide "Mac Arthur" A2, A2 Lambskin and a goats skin A-2.

The Avirex Outlet Store - (718) 482-1997 - is located at 3100 47th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101 by Subway Via 7 Train: Get off at 33rd Street station

Long Island City actually has a historic past in American WW2 aviation. The Brewster Aeronautical Corporation was located in Long Island City (located in the Queens borough of New York City, just across the East River from Manhattan The Brewster F2A (known as the Buffalo) was the first modern fighter to enter US service.

That would be difficult, they buy not to use but to show off. Big Mac had to cut their prices in Japan but LV on the other hand raised theirs. It has to do more with showing off than any practical usage.

Some people will go hungry so that they can show off their LV bags I guess.

People are spending more than the can afford.

The US has a 750 billion trade deficit and US homeowners were using the housing bubble to finance purchases of Gucci bags.

I don't know about others, I just know that between a Gucci and tons of Big Macs, I rather take the latter, anytime of the day.

$1000 is enough to buy you a big mac every day for a year.

stox, we arent talking about spending money, we are talking about quality that we pay for(we think so).

I paid 90 pounds (and in some other stores it was 130 GBP) for my Tommy jacket, which I liked very much. After wearing it 3-5 times, the bloody FLUFF is coming out inside of it, so if I wear something black, the fluff will be all over it. Guess what, its Made in China. When I was buying it (3 years ago) I wouldnt even think that a brand like Tommy would be making their stuff in China. Now Im checking every label.

China is the factory of the world nowadays, frankly it is hard to escape from any Made In China. Even the USA Flags are made in China.

Minimum wage in Nicaragua is $80 bucks, $1,000.00 buys a lot more than that over there. :)

A lot of the fault on buying junk is on the consumers. I bought a corkscrew that was 'made un Italy' from Ikea back in 1999 and it's still going strong.

In the liquor stores they sell 'made in china' cockscrews that retail for $1.99 but fall about after you use it once. But people continue to buy them. The retailers are making out that fat rats as the chinese cockscrews cost something like $2 a dozen.

$1000 bucks is big money down there

Wait till Ikea outsource to China :) Then you really have no cockscrews left.
