From this poll, it appears that religious catholics approve of torture more than non-religious atheists and agnostics.... no real surprise... Survey by Pew Research Center for the People & the Press Oct. 12-24, 2005; nationwide survey conducted among 2,006 adults Do you think the use of torture against suspected terrorists in order to gain important information can often be justified, sometimes be justified, rarely be justified, or never be justified? Catholic Often: 21% Sometimes: 35% Never: 26% Protestant Often: 15% Sometimes: 34% Never: 31% Secular (agnostic, atheist) Often: 10% Sometimes: 25% Never: 41% http://ncronline.org/NCR_Online/archives2/2006a/032406/032406h.htm
Cool They should have worded it better though: If terrorists were planning another 9/11 to fly a plane into your place of work, and the only way to prevent it was by torture of one of their captured members, would you prefer to live, or die? I bet those number would be through the roof! Poor terrorists, they are so misunderstood
I would like to refer you to the brain-control post going on right now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MKULTRA Why torture? Brainwash! As for your question: there is a such thing as good violence. When a professor was asked by a peace activist, "So you're saying the reason violence is okay if because you're right and they're wrong?!" The response he said was "I can't put it any better than that." To free a country of an oppressor, sometimes violence must be used. Saddam would not stand down without a fight. You and your liberal friend's problem is that you equate killing a terrorist to killing an innocent child. You are indifferent. Terrorists deliberately target civilians, the USA tries to target military installations. Exceptions: Dresden bombing, and Nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by liberal hero Franklin Delanor Roosevelt, and Truman. The Qu'Ran says all infidels must be converted or killed. No exceptions. Do you think peaceful resistance is an option?
I've had the problem with people just defining what is "torture. M-W.com: "anguish of body or mind" Is it subjecting people to treatment they do not want, torture? Example of one torture I heard, being read Harry Potter aloud. That made the news as torture. If being subjected to unwanted treatment is torture, I feel very tortured around this time of year. Especially on 15th of April. tom
I guess it depends on what you consider torture to be. Playing rap music for an inmate at GITMO? Peeling finger nails. The cold war was not won by playing rap music. I'm a Darwin Catholic (self proclaimed btw). I wonder how Kerry and Kennedy voted... Hmm, both Catholics. Bastards.
No, I equate the murder of 1 innocent person to 1 innocent person. Wether they are American or Iraqi. How many Iraqi citzens are dead because of our bombs? 30,000+.... You are different. You think 30,000+ innocent peoples murders is justified if a Cowboy and his posse of oil businessmen and billionares say so. Really? So why was it that we weren't being targeted and killed by over 1+ billion muslims? Why is it that we weren't even a target of ANY muslim terrorism until we supported Israel's murder of palestinians? oh, i know....look to the cowboy for answers! Terrorists are mindless killing machines. Like pitbulls!
Actually, yo-yo has no problem with killing innocent children. He's already done it once. They get in the way of welfare benefits. It's the terrorists being killed that seems to cause him the most grief.
Do you think it is little ridiculous when you pretend to get upset about abortion when you have no problem with massacre of women and children?
It couldn't be ridiculous, I've never said such. I did give you the opportunity, over the course of ten-fifteen pages, to explain why you want the US to pull out of Iraq so terrorists can win. But since you continuously refused to answer, I denied you my response. Want to play again? How's your friend, jose padilla, doing?
