Nokia has decided it is going to get involved in the smartphone arena, with the announcement of it’s Tube handset. This will be Nokia’s attempt to compete with apple and its iPhone juggernaut. The rumor is that it will officially be named the Nokia 5800 Tube, however official confirmation from Nokia has yet to be announced. The Tube, by whatever name, is set to be released later this year. How does the Tube stack up to the iPhone?
The Tube is said to be sporting a 3.2 mega pixel camera, and will have an auto focus feature as well. The 3.2 inch screen will display 16 million colors, and will be a touch screen. It will also feature a quad-band GSM/EDGE radio function, with 3G functionality, Bluetooth 2.0 technology, WiFi, and a GPS system.
The Specs that have been released so far are as follows:
    • 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 16 Million colors
    • 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus
    • Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE radio
    • 3G UMTS/HSDPA
    • Bluetooth 2.0
    • WiFi
    • GPS
    • 3.5mm headphone jack
    • TV-out port
    • 140MB on-board storage
    • 111 x 52 x 14.5 mm
    • 104g
While it appears that Nokia is presenting a legitimate alternative to the iPhone, it does not appear that it is attempting to innovate anything, or provide any real competition for Apple. The iPhone 3G is said to be released soon, which would give the Nokia’s only real advantage a knock out blow. If Nokia really intends to challenge for the crown in the Smartphone ring, it should have set a release before the iPhone 3G.

This week has seen a number of newsworthy headlines about the iPhone, new releases in new countries, and now the ability to use VoIP technology on your iPhone. A London based company says it can bring mobile VoIP at a low cost through contact management services such as Skype to the iPhone.

According to Fring, the firm presenting the new ability, has a VoIP client that can integrate with various VoIP networks like Skype, and the client is now available for the iPhone. The mobile application is now publicly available and allows users to talk, chat, and interact with other Fring members, in a Fring community, as well as all other online communities using the iPhones Wi-Fi connection.

The pre-release of the software will allow iPhone owners to explore the VoIP application, and the Fring software, and will be able to provide feedback to Fring on there likes and dislikes. Fring plans on a full release version later in the year.

Users with the pre-release version will be able to make free and low cost calls over Wi-Fi and use instant messaging. When the iPhone user logs into Fring, it will create a integrated contact list from the phone owners selected communities, like MSN, Yahoo, Skype, AIM, etc.

Fring started out in February of 2007 as a mobile client for just Skype, but has since increased its offerings with the other communities. The VoIP client is optimized for the 3G wireless network. Along with the the iPhone, Fring also runs on all Nokia Symbian Series 60 devices, Sony Ericsson UIQ Smartphones and Windows Mobile devices as well.

Feedback so far has been slightly mixed, with standard pre-release complaints. It appears Fring may still have a bit of work to do before this becomes a viable application for iPhone users, however once it is worked out and functioning at its full potential, it will make life much easier for those users who prefer VoIP. One positive review came from an online Tech blogger, "Finally. [I've] been using this on my Nokia, now finally on the iPhone. Thanks a lot but it takes a very long time to log on, also it would be much nicer if you could see your contacts by service." That commenter also recommended including an options tab to customize the settings and enabling Skype to run on GPRS/EDGE wireless networks.

When you are young, you have big dreams, big aspirations, and big goals. Many kids want to be professional athletes, music stars, or even president. There is nothing wrong with aspiring to be famous, and in fact, it can be something that will drive a young person to succeed. Ashley Dupre wanted something simple, and famous she is, however not from any of the things listed. Dupre, also known as Kristen, the very upscale, $1000 an hour prostitute who was identified late on Wednesday as having had sexual relations with NY Governor Elliot Spitzer, in exchange for her hourly rate. How does one benefit from being a prostitute involved in a scandal? Simple, besides being a high end prostitute, record some want to be pop songs and put them on your myspace page, which makes you an aspiring singer, and be attractive, then get thrown in front of the public every where they look and viola, your famous! One incident involving two people ends one person’s career, and skyrockets another. Spitzer has since withdrawn himself from the political arena, resigning as Governor of New York, and Dupre is on the verge of being a multi-millionaire due to her being in the public eye so much. One of the internets music download sites, amiestreet.com charges for songs based on the demand for that song. The site announced that Dupre’s song “Move Ya Body” has reached the maximum price of 98 cents, within 5 hours of it being on the site. The songs popularity set a record on the site, as the song to have reached the peak price in the shortest amount of time. As the artist, Dupre will earn 70 percent of the sales, which should far out pay her previous job of having sex for money, even if her clients were top dollar. Publisher of the popular adult magazine “Hustler” has inserted himself into the media circus for this event as well. Flynt told popular television show “Access Hollywood” that he is prepared to offer her one million dollars to pose nude. This is not uncommon when there is an attractive woman thrust into the spotlight, adult magazines attempting to get them to post nude for pay. Flynt plans on exposing a nude Dupre as soon as possible. Her myspace page has drawn over seven million views, and NYC radio station Z100 has began to play her songs in the mix. She may not be the most musically talented young woman, however it is estimated that she will earn between two and a half and five million dollars as a result of being the public figure she has become. One has to wonder if she is truly happy about what this has brought her. Is she ok that she became famous because she was a high priced hooker? Is she hoping that everyone will forget that she was indeed a hooker and will just see her as the next hot bodied pop singer? Only time will tell, as Dupre will be faced with many choices and challenges. Overnight celebrity can be an incredibly tough thing to handle, and it will be interesting to see how Dupre plays the cards she has been dealt.

    Joy
Joy is what we want from life.
Joy is our natural state. It's our birth right. It's what we feel when we're being all we can be. It's our "why."
Joy is our target and our measure. The presence of joy is our primary signal that we're on the right path.
Fortunately, joy is all around us, here and now. We don’t have to wait – we only have to connect.
    Choosing Joy at Work
Rather than go directly for joy, we act as though we believe we must suffer to attain it.
So we work for money to buy us time and things to enjoy. We sacrifice our lives hoping for a little joy over the weekend, on vacation, in retirement. As time goes by, we end up working on the weekend, skipping or shortening vacations, postponing retirement. It gets harder to remember why we work.
At work, joy is just good business. Happy people produce more. And since joy is available immediately and in abundance, it doesn’t cost much in terms of time or money.
Through our book “Choosing Joy at Work,” speaking engagements and workshops, and coaching, we help workers and bosses choose joy in ways that enhance their lives AND their work.

    Choosing Joy for Your Wedding
Joy can infuse the entire wedding process - from proposal through honeymoon.
Planning your wedding offers a golden opportunity to create lasting joy. Joy in the wedding process sets up joy in marriage.
Weddings change relationships. A joyful wedding opens the door to bringing lasting joy to your most important relationships.
In our Wedding Coaching, we facilitate meaningful conversations with brides and grooms (and their friends and family) about what a joyful wedding means to them, as well as potential blocks to that joy. And we explore ways to handle difficult conversations gracefully - in ways that enhance joy - so they can maintain joy under pressure.
As non-denominational ordained ministers, we help brides and grooms create the ceremony and vows that best speak their love and clarify their intentions for their marriage. As Wedding Celebrants, we perform joyful ceremonies as a couple because we think there’s something special about couples marrying couples.

I have had people come up to me and ask me whether or not check raising
during cash games – like no limit hold ‘em – is allowed. It is something that people will vary on –but most people would wish to keep out of the game.

First I need to explain exactly what check raising is. Say I was playing Texas Hold ‘em and one of the opponents checked during the betting process. The player next to him raised and then when the betting made its way back to the player who checked he would then re-raise the whole table.

Many people are under the impression that you once you check and someone puts in their own bet during the betting round you are not allowed to re-raise them. This is in fact very much allowed and is why they have a name for it. This is actually a good strategy that many people will use both professionally and not.

There are several reasons why people will check raise the bet on the table. One of the most common reason is to get more money into the pot; otherwise known as slow playing a hand. This happens when you check someone and then they immediately bet and then you call. During the turn you check your hand (to give suspense and doubt to the other players) but you check again and then when they decide to bet you turn the tables on them and you re-raise them.

Another good reason why people use the check raising strategy is to naturally protect their hands against their opponents while you are still in an early position. Here is a good example. During a No Limit Hold ‘em game if you were dealt an AT during the big blind and during the flop was revealed an A-J-T and everyone had decided during the pre flop to call it would be better for you to check raise during that flop. It would help to get rid of some of the other players while the round is still young and will give you a better position to win.

Trying to kick these players off is not your only goal though when it comes to this particular strategy. After all you want to make sure that you have enough money in the pot to make the win worth it. That means you would want everyone to check while someone who is in the late position. This person would than bet and you would raise them and hopefully force the players that are in the middle to call two of the bets. That
is if they chose to stay in the game after that.

Many amateur players are under the impression that check raising is not nearly as important or effective as raising. While it is important to know how to raise someone and know when to raise someone check raising is still a stronger move. In fact when someone check raise and bluff at the same time it becomes a very ‘deadly’ and effective move to make on all players.
