In our day-2-day lifes we came across many words with same meanings..
people from different part of the world use different spellings or words for the same meanings...

2. Shop (UK) - Store (US)

We say Cookies and buiscuits (2 different things here)
We say Hood
We say Movie and Film
We say Theatre and Hall (2 different things here).. so.. those ones are naff

Try bumming a fag in London and you'll get a cigarette, in the US you'll get a punch on the nose

Dont know about that one, fags still pretty popular as a term for gays here. Ill leave you to try it though

 

I'm not sure about that, I'm in London too and say fag most of the time and I've not had a punch on the nose yet

 

I am curious, in the UK, do they say Washroom or Bathroom/Restroom?

 

Bog, loo or toilet

 

Toilet usually, bathroom if you're going for a bath

 

When mentioning a fag in the UK I havent had a punch on the nose either. If I said "look at that fag over there" people would naturally look to the ground to see a fag on the floor.

That last one can get aukward when someone in the US says to sit on your fanny :S

Well, people tend to say "bog" when they are being "slangy" (is that a word?)

You would say it to your mates, but not in "polit company"

 

Oh yeah - beware of "fanny" in the UK

Only women have one, and you definately would not talk about it in polite (or polit) company!

 

But if you said can i have a fag then it would be a ciggarette if you called someone a fag theres no way they would think your calling them a ciggarette lol.
To me bumming a fag would mean doing like Elton John, but that could be down to the friends ive grown up with since there mostly chavs or recovering chavs
