Dude - it's saying that these people would rather die a noble death than be uprooted. Considering you've ignored to even address the significant legal issue that Jews cannot inherit the land UNLESS THEY CONVERT TO ISLAM, your motives have been exposed. Another rabid anti-Israel activist here. Some might say you've been positively ThraXed.

PS - despite the incredible injustice done to these Iranian Jews and yet another attempt at forced conversions in an Arab nation, you don't see the Iranian Jews carrying out suicide missions in Iran do you?

How is it? What has this got to do with the fact that Iranian Jews would rather stay there than go to the so called Jewish homeland? Surley they must be treated quite well in Iran to want to stay there. If they are treated with incredible injustice why don't they go to Israel?

You quote the Guardian... LOL. Why not use something from Jewwatch?

If you want to keep it civil, read what I posted about, don't ignore it. If you claim you want fairness for all then don't keep posting why it should only be that way in Israel but it's fine for the rest of the Arab controlled Middle East to conduct its ethnic cleansing against Jews. The status of the dhimmi has been that way for CENTURIES. This isn't something new that began in the last few decades. But like most Americans, you want to be able to have everything in a "For Dummies" version and simplify the issue. Read something about the history of the region before posting your simplistic jabber.

Th Guardian is one of the most respected news publications in the UK. Can you please answer, if Jews have it so hard in Iran why would they rather live there than in Israel? Arabs expelled Jews because the Jews expelled the Arabs in Palestine, an eye for an eye.

Using your logic, if the Palestinians don't like it, why don't they join their Muslim friends in countries that dwarf the size of Israel?

Considering the population was well over 100,000 over 60 years ago and should have been almost 400,000 today, it seems like conditions were so bad that they left in droves. Only a handful remain and that was because conditions weren't as bad as they are now. You've answered your own question for you.

If you want to understand why proud German Jews died in the Holocaust in greater numbers, watch the film "Seven Beauties" - an Italian film. It's a tragicomedy and will tell you a great deal about that which you purport you want to know about.

Why do you keep bringing the holocaust up? It is totally irrelevant to the discussion. You still have not answered the quesiton in respect to the Jews in Iran.

It's what Jews live by, it is in the Torah. Or, mabye it is an eye for a hundred eyes from what we have seen in Gaza recently. :(

OK, you're either a member of the Hitler youth or just haven't read anything on the topic. The expulsion of Jews from Arab Nations and their inferior status as dhimmi started LONG BEFORE Israel had to be established. I can even quote from your own Wikipedia article that you cited that you just didn't care to read. But there is a lot more.

Reza Shah's ascent brought temporary relief to Jews; however, in the 1920s, Jewish schools were closed. According to Eliz Sanasarian, in the 1930s, "Reza Shah's pro-Nazi sympathies seriously threatened Iranian Jewry."[22]

You just want to make this a "dummies" problem without bothering to read up on facts.

And now you're quoting the Torah. Do you even understand what is meant by "an eye for an eye?" FYI, the Arabs and Jews have VERY different explanations for it and Jews didn't gouge out their eyes.

With regard to Gaza, you must be talking about the rockets aimed at civilian areas? Oh wait, you're talking about the hundreds of children's eyes blown to pieces (that you could care less about) and the attempt to root out the cause - taking out the terrorists - which nobody else is helping with.

People...I don't want this thread to get vitriolic. I'm hoping that people would come here with the desire to understand the complex issues.

As I've said numerous times, it's not just Israel vs. "Palestinians." It is the entire Arab controlled region that has caused this problem to exist. Many here have decided they just don't want to take time to understand what that means. I'm hoping that changes and that some of you have decided to look up the word "dhimmi" and understand what kind of culture surrounds the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Finally, don't think Jews/Israelis aren't sympathetic to Palestinians either. Most are. Many Palestinians live in peace with other Jews in Israel, contrary to popular belief. And moreso, the Jews can appreciate the perspective of the way the Palestinians are treated by other Arabs in the surrounding nations, who haven't been eager to do much for them except use the Palestinians for their own agenda. If you look back in recent history you'll see just how much "not in my back yard" has gone on for refugees. Given the huge oil money being raked in and the fact that these nations dwarf the size of Israel, you don't think significant accommodations could be made for these people in some fashion?

At the end of the day, people will be people - and so are the Jews and Palestinians living together in Jerusalem. But make no mistake - there is a huge anti-Jewish (and has been anti-Christian) sentiment in the Middle East. This is not new unfortunately - Jews not being allowed to be citizens, inherit land unless they are Muslim - shocking but true. There is no democracy other than Israel and the principles you've started to hear about are inherent in the culture which promotes fundamental unfairness towards others. Some countries are further along the process than others, e.g. Egypt, but it is a long road.

It pains me tremendously to see anyone get killed - regardless of race, color or creed. Life is so precious. The real enemy here are the terrorists. Hamas is an organization that, by its very own name says it is a group designed for terror. Unless everyone in the Middle East is prepared to wipe out these murderers, peace cannot exist. Hamas should not and cannot be tolerated outside the borders of Israel and supported as they are. Unfortunately until now, there is virtually nobody willing to truly step up to the plate and start this process. Abbas needs the help or he is just a grain of sand on the beach. Without the group help, the terrorism will not stop and peace will not be able to be obtained. I'm hopeful but remain pessimistic that there will be democracy in the Middle East, fairness for all people... Peace... out.

Believe me, even Muslims are furious at countries such as Egypt, Saudi, Jordan etc because of their puppet like dictatorship regiemes where they treat money more than people. As I said before, Jews need to stop believing that a Jewish fingernail is worth more than a million Arabs for there to be peace, and Arabs need to stop with their hostility to the Jews...there needs to be EQUALITY for there to be peace, if one race thinks they are superior to the other then there will never be peace mate. :(

East Jerusalem belongs to the Arabs and Israel is currently ethnically cleansing the Area....how can you expect Hamas to be peaceful when these type of things are happening? How can you expect people to be peaceful when you think a finernail is more superior to a million of their race?

Your insensitivity is disgraceful. Tell this nonsense the families of the 8 children slaughtered in school by a terrorist. This isn't a Jewish fingernail. 1,154 Jewish people have been killed in Israel by terrorist attacks since September 2000. We're talking civilian casualties such as the bombing of children on a beach, the children in the school, etc. I understand the anger on both sides but the terrorism comes from one side only. Undoubtedly there are moments when even tempered people can go overboard on both sides, but this is not the case. Hamas exists solely to destroy Israel. They've said so numerous times and it's in their charter. Yet for reasons that are unexplainable, you and other just choose to ignore it and the differentiation of Hamas with the Palestinians in Israel who seek peace.

EQUALITY: ThraXed - You continue to consciously ignore the points about the centuries of ethnic cleansing and hostility against non-Muslims in the entire Middle Eastern region. You don't address the return of Jewish lands and rights to their people in the adjoining countries. Jews do not have equal rights and the Hamas/Palestinian plan is that they aren't interested in giving those to the Jews either at this point. You are resigned not to accept that if Muslims aren't treated properly in the region, what do you think it's like for Jews? Palestinians ARE Muslims so they don't have nearly the problems that the Jews have in their tiny strip of land. It's clear you and Hamas are not interested in equality.

As I said, there is no need to prolong this conversation. Comments like the above make me unfortunately realize that anti-semitism or judeophobia is growing by leaps and bounds. At the very least, it's a shocking insensitivity. The fingernail comment was just outrageous and revolting. Until the Arab nations surrounding Israel are ready to root out terrorism and provide equal rights to non-Muslims, there is a problem which both the Israelis and the Palestinians unfortunately have to bear. Neither group should have to live like this and my heart goes out to both groups who want peace but must live in such a high pressure existence.

He is in a way right, if Americans were smart like him then they wouldn't pay for all the Israel weapons and make themselves a terrorism target for nothing by supporting Israel.;)

Absolutely agree... Without Equality and Justice, the bombs are not going to stop any time soon.

If the IDF keeps killing Palestnians, imprisoning thousand of them without charge, ghettoising an entire Palesanian, creating bantustan-like open-air prison in Gaza, criss-crossing the entire Palestanian landscape with "jewish-only" roads... Demolition of thousands of homes, killing of children, cutting supply to food and essential medicines... All this will fire back. there will be a reaction.

Peace can only be achieved when there is Justice based on Equality. A Jew is equal to a Palestinian, and both are Humans, both are brothers of each other... That is very necessary for Peace. If the zionists think they can keep oppressing a certain people indefinitely coz they have military superiority, then they are dead wrong. There will be blow-back, and the war would continue, however unfortunate it is, until there is a just settlement based on Equality.

The people killed in the 'School' which wasn't actually a school, it was more an institution for terrorist supporters (who are over 18 I might add, not kids), for people who want to continue the ethnic cleansing and illegal settlements of east jerusalem. This was more of a case of terrorist killing terrorists.

This is what I mean by Equality, 8 Jews die and it is an atrocity, 100 civillians die in Gaza and nothing....the day that a Jew is equal to a Palestinian then there will be peace. They have to learn that they are not superior to anyone, untill then, the kassams will continue.

Your ability to justify an attack on innocent students reveals much about you. That you argue the terrorist attacks on civilians via rockets from Gaza should continue, you have taken a position that every civilized person has taken a stand against. Even Abbas condemned that attack, and yet you justify it. You hatred of Jews and Israel is apparent and disgusting.

Supporting Hamas puts you in the position of supporting terrorist. You, as far as I am concerned, are a terrorist supporter. Perhaps you should move to a country that shares your point of view. America and England do not.
