She resigned, and yes. She can exercise her freedom of speech as much as she want. Don't let the hardcore dishonest muslims of DP fool you about freedom of speech - a concept that is unfamiliar to millions of muslims around the world.

Muslim women are getting more freedoms, but the problem is it's not portrayed by the media at all. It's also happening very slowly which is understandable. We didn't fix equal rights for women for 150-200 years roughly? That's the American view though.

Women are truly on the lowest level of the totem pole especially throughout history. Most women living today would not of known freedom a few hundred years ago. It's a shame considering most sterotypes are backwards. It's an escape goat to hide behind an excuse.

Men pay higher in car insurance than women do, but any time there's a crash. People seem to always think it was a woman driver. May be a joke, but it's a messed up sterotype as well.

Now women are moving up the totem pole to almost where they are equal. It's not happening yet with people who hate that idea, but they are usually older generations in the more free lands.

I don't think this was exactly wrong. FREEDOM OF SPEECH is meant to protect the PEOPLE not the government - she worked for the government. It's in the best interest since I'm in the military not to stir sand with anyone else from another land. It's in my best interest to listen to the people on what they tell me what to do and not to do, but when I'm out on my own time I can be whoever I like as long as it's not hateful. If you want to comment be very careful.

TENSIONS are so high with countries especially now that we can communicate with them with a click of a button. WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH, BUT THE PEOPLE IN THESE COUNTRIES USUALLY HAVE LIMITATIONS AND NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Maybe not true with isreal, but it's usually the people in the land of poor, famished, and controlled that get injured or killed since they usually don't have a government that will protect them. Especially in wars. Civilian death counts will always happen even at time at peace, so it's best to be peaceful and patient to try to negotiate.

I agree with the rest of your post, but I think you have this wrong. First off, she didn't work FOR the government. Her job is to report ON the government. Since this story broke, I've since heard that she was an opinion writer, not a pure journalist. Essentially, she was paid to put her opinion about what the government is doing to print by a private enterprise.

Where does this leave us? After decades of employment, her employer decided her opinion did not reflect views they wanted associated with their company. It is their call. The same thing happens on a daily basis to other "opnion" reporters. Look at Joe Scarborough, an ex-republican congressman, working for MSNBC. The more he piped up with what he really believes, the less of his show he got to keep. He is now like a neutered dog relegated to the wee hours of the morning and forced to co-host his show with a leftist who pretty much dominates the show that bears his name. Its sad really, but reality if he wishes to continue to work for MSNBC and take down what must be a several million dollar a year contract. Alan Colmes working for Fox is another example. I give Alan credit, because he won't become the neutered dog and mute his voice a bit. Unfortunately for him, it is no longer "Hannity and Colmes", it is just "Hannity". Such is life in the big city. I'm sure Helen would have no problem getting a job and exercising her right to free speech working for Al Jezeerra.

Another one bites the dust. As a Muslim, I'd just like to say I am glad to see people taking action against the people who are ruining the reputation of Muslims worldwide. Thank you CNN.
