    Is American Idol really this popular? I would think that maybe a domain name of some unknown wouldn't be so much.

    Its an investment. The OP is correct, as the american idol group gets smaller. The singers popularity will rise.

    You must not watch the show or the news. 4 out of the 12 finalists last year sold a bazillion records (Pickler, Hicks, Daughtry and Mcphee).

    Look up:

    Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry and many many more Idol top 12 finalists. Idol is the most popular show on TV and makes everyone famous thats on it.
