Just watched this, it was an eye opener and thought it was worth a share. Give yourself 47 minutes to watch it fully.
Interesting video, and with a release date of 2006, I have to wonder how many people's lives it cost. Pretty humorous to consider that they used Alan Grayson as a credible legal witness shortly before his short lived run at congress. On topic, they hammered, even if the US had squandered the entire 20 billion dollars( the video I alleges 9 of the 20 is not properly accounted for), it would be a drop in the bucket when compared to the 60 billion dollars that is lost to Medicare fraud in the US every year. Stolen. Ripped off. Hell, its a drop in the bucket compared to Iraq's annual oil revenues. Obama personally managed the theft of 50 billion dollars of taxpayer money which found it's way into the hands of his political supporters, much of which will never be returned. Mind you, I'm not trying to say that the gross mismanagement of money alleged by the film didn't happen, or that it is somehow OK. It most certainly isn't . I would argue it is more of a sad statement on how things work in Washington, and certainly how things work in a war zone. Even more pathetic is the fact most governments make the US government look like saints when it comes to this type of corruption. Its still pretty irritating to see a film maker focus in on the money Iraq was supposedly losing while the US was bleeding billions via the same type of poor oversight and mismanagement. I wonder if the filmmaker ever considers the coincidence of 2007 being Iraq's bloodiest year with the production of his wonderful film. I hope he made a few bucks.
I think the war in Iraq was a massive money making scheme. It has benefited everybody including America and it's coalition allies with the seizing control of the vast oil reserves in the country. Wall Street will greatly profit from it including the banks, countless companies involved in the defense industry. Then once they've totally flattened out Iraq it comes fertile ground for the corporations to come in and build it back up and set up shop. It's sad to say but I think the real driving force for in invasion of Iraq was the war profiteers that we're using George Bush as their dumb puppet.
Did people make money in Iraq? Absolutely. Putting yourself in the path of billions of dollars that are getting spent seems like common sense if you want to make a few bucks. Ask any stock broker, financial planner, high end real estate sales person, etc. It just takes a monumental leap of faith to say the war was about profit when the fat is there will be money to made in any conflict. By that logic, WWII was about profit.
There needed to be a logical reason for them to invade Iraq, Saddam gave them one. I think there's a profit motive behind every war, but there needs to be some justified reason to start one. Dictators are easy targets.
