American Gangsta is the best movie i have seen in years

American Gangsta was one of the best movies i have ever seen. Russel Crowe and Denzel are fantastic once again. But have you seen a better movie in the last couple of years?

I am seriously comparing it to "Goodfellas".

? Your thoughts if you have seen it. :)

I've seen it 3 times in a span of about 2 weeks. I think its a pretty good movie right up there with 300 and gladiator.

I watched it the other day. I wouldn't say it's the best movie i've watched in years, but it was a great film :D i'd recomend it.

LOL i have rewacthed 300. And i hated it every time. But i loved it the first time i watched it. Gladiator was awesome though.

The storyline is based on a true story. I looked up Frank Lucas on google.

Apparently he wasn't released in 1991 like the movie showed it was much earlier.

Yeah...American Gangster was a true story (well as true as it gets in the film world). 300 is ace, I've seen it quite a few times, Gladiator is my alltime favorite film though...:D

Yeh definetely altered to make the movie better. I think we need a few more mafia movies. They are definetely my favourites. I thought the drug scenes were a bit to graphic though, did anyone else?

I have always liked Mafia movies. And im actually a big fan of the sopranos.

Not something i would want to be involved in though.

Denzel and Russell have good chemistry together, I am hoping more more collaborations between the two of them in the future.

I loved Casino. But that end scene was simply vicious.

The life of a mobster was conveyed pretty well i thought.

Its a life i would never want though.

This movie kinda reminded me of Departed. But the ending of American Gangster was too long and forced. When he exits the church and comes face to face with Russel Crowe, the movie should have ended there.

Most of the movie was spectacular. Like jswy315 said, though, there are parts near the end where it just goes on a little too long.

I really loved the people who play Denzel's brothers. Just goes to show that a lot of rappers do make great actors.
