I was never to impressed with American Express and now they validate that they are at least ignorant of search engine technology and modern advertising methods. Here's a write up at WebProNews. They call SEOs a waste, indicating that they will put you on a Google blacklist. One commenter noted SEOs can do work that will increase long term traffic based on one time efforts but SEM work needs to be paid every month normally with a credit card like American Express. Are they ignorant or deceptive? So the company that has a history of high annual fee, no credit (pay it off every month) credit cards, and has a publicly rip the card from you policy is trying to impress us with the their insights into SEO. Nice!
Dont know and dont want to know their policy...cause i am not an AE user and not interested in their services
What the hell does a credit card company has to do with SEO? do they even know the abbreviation of SEO.
I think you forgot to mention the real reason why they say such - IMO, ludicrous - outcries. Every man and his dog now call themselves "SEO Experts" because they submit your link to linkfarm directories. WooHoo!
may be bacause they are amex and well known since they day of pony express (if anyone remembers how they started) and they dont need to do any SEO for their site. but it would be pure ignorance if they say SEO is a waste for any type of site.
Yes, I read this as well and thought how sad when AMEX feels they need to make a statement about something they don't know anything about. AMEX may not need SEO's being one of the largest credit card companies in the world but what about the smaller, newer companies who are just trying to get themselves found? You know, all the small businesses they advertise to through their direct mailings (of wasted paper) and commercials about their new PLUM small business card? AMEX needs to get off their high horse and realize the same people they are advertising to may be in need of some SEO work and yes, I agree, everyone and anyone can say they know how to optimize a site. The real proof is in case studies and results. Before using an SEM firm, ask questions and ask for ROI's, etc.
