Hey, I've decided to build a new gaming PC! But my problem is, I'm not sure which processor is best for gaming. I want performace, something that will be able to handle really intense graphics and also one that's best for multi-tasking(such as 3D animation, web design and video editing), and also something that will last me in the long run.
Please help as I hope to buy one soon.

    Thanks,
    Nexopedia :)

I always prefered AMD over intel. They are the best in terms of price = performance ratio.

I prefer AMD. With Intel you can cook an egg on top of your motherboard LOL.

But I'm still using a Celeron Northwood LOL

My vote goes to Intel for sure. Built the home PC with Intel, and the work with AMD. My AMD machine cant handle the same work load. They are both very comparible machines too.

hmmm, not really sure now, too many mixed votes. If possible, please explain why you prefer the processor.

    Thanks,

The chip (amd or intel) if similar spec doesn't really matter that much with gaming machines

For gaming i would go with AMD, you can tweak amd's processor speed up a few notches...and put some good cooling in

You will also save money...with that u can buy a better graphics card... :)...which is what will really deliver the performance

If you don't want to tweak just get the Intel then save up a bit more for the graphics card.

I suppose I could, but it's not just gaming I want to use the PC for, programming, animation and webdesign as well, something that will be able to handle all of those and more.

My vote goes to AMD Quad core. You can even upgrade to Quad core straight from Athlon 64 socket AM2 without having to incur any costly motherboard upgrades.
