AMD Phenom 9550 any good?

    Yet again its time to upgrade my desktop. I'm thinking quad core Phenom 9550. Would you recommend it?

    much money? it costs $200 - 250 and is one of the cheapest 4 core CPUs.

    I would suggest Intel Core 2 Quad, but since you are upgrading then I guess you cannot go Intel. What processor are you using now? Maybe it would be wiser to save up and buy a new computer? Or new video card? More ram? Better HDD? CPU isn't the only thing that computer needs.

    Man, I use AMD Agena X4 Phenom 9500 2,2 Ghz. It rocks! No problem (especially problem with heat that Intel always say). I use 8 Gb of RAM.
    It's fast!

    Yes it would be fine! Super fast! See you would be fine with a dual core or a pentium 4 3.8+. But getting a quad would be the best since everything else is getting outdated.

    I already have 4GB ram, GTS graphics and so on. All I really want is a faster processor.
