Wow, there are such things as quad cores now? Damn, technology moves fast!

Anyway, I prefer Intels. Never tried AMDs though.

yup, get a Core2Duo... or wait for the price drop (in a few days I believe) and get a quad core the same price you can get a dual core for

If you are going to use it for fun buy Amd , but if you want the standarts buy Intel , I use Intel at work and Amd at home.

    Damn expensive though..

    I always used Intel.. right now I have a Pentium D and a Core2Duo.. C2D rocks.
Its best processor in Dual Core..

Yeah I use AMD, although I dont side with either processor brand, I had to write a report before regarding AMDs and Intels. And I found that AMDs are better for gaming, and Intels are better for applications and raw power.

I have just ordered a AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ with my new computer.

I'd go for Intel! They're the best of quality when it comes to processors!

I have a Intel Dual core processor (or Pentium D) and I'm completely satisfied with it. However, AMD isn't bad either.. A friend has AMD Athlon processor and it works perfect too.

I always used AMDs in the past because they used to be the overachieving underdog in the 90s. Now it's all down to marketing garbage. I don't think it matters anymore. Pick a nice motherboard, and go with what fits.

same opinion here...it's quite hard to say which is the best. i guess the deciding factor is the price.

In terms of benchmarks the core 2 duo performs better then the 64 X2s not to mention the insane overclock potential of the C2Ds given the choice i would always pick the C2D. Too bad amd lost the proc battle about 1 year ago, they were kicking ***. Prices are pretty matched too.
