AMD for me, because it's more affordable.

Intels Seems to be a move or two ahead lately and are getting further and further away from AMD, AMD's having a problem catching up though so they have quite competitively And cheap priced products, which may be prev gen compared to intels latest though, but are priced very low, IMO, It doesn't really Matter all that much if your buying older gen chip and not a 32nm 6Core 12Thread i7 CPU, if you need cutting edge and strongest and best, intel, if you care more about price/preformance ratio, AMD is worth a look at too.

i always here people saying AMD overheats, then again they are cheaper. My gf has an HP labtop with AMD 64 bit chip, looks pretty fast to me.

Then again i'm always an Intel fan so...kind of biased

    Benefits of Intel:
    - Faster, in general
    - Smaller die size equals less power consumption and heat with comparable performance
    - Arguably better support than AMD
    - Better price-to-performance ratio over $200
    - Generally easier to overclock

    Benefits of AMD:
    - Easier to upgrade, due to more universal sockets
    - Fusion, which hasn't been used much, but has potential
    - Better price-to-performance ratio under $200
    - Older chips perform better in 64-bit than their Intel counterparts

So it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want modularity and upgradeability in your system and don't mind sacrificing some performance, then AMD is the way to go. If you want the fastest, most efficient processor, then Intel is the best. Overall, I'd say Intel is pumping out the better chips, but AMD is enticing in its own way.

What would I go with? AMD, since I upgrade my system all the time and don't want to blow an additional $100-200 on a new motherboard just so I can upgrade my CPU.
