Amazon - Waste of time?

On my sites, I have affiliate links to various Clickbank products, as well as Adsense.

I noticed Amazon has some excellent products that are directly related to my niche. But their comission is so low, I've never bothered.

My question: Is there anyone making decent money with Amazon? And what do you think of their affiliate program?

I agree with you 100% about the Amazon commission

But I've decided to go that route because, like you, I have found many products that fit my niche all in one place.

Am I making decent money? No way....but then again, I don't promote with a full sized landing page, storefront, etc. From what I understand, people that do it that way, can make decent money

it depends if there is other affiliate program that pays higher commission, and i think that Amazon is such brand that people will prefer to buy at, so you need to consider that people wont buy from other merchants who pay higher commission rate but will buy from Amazon who pays lower commission but has a better reputation.

Marketing affiliate products through Amazon is much different than using any other affiliate program and if approached as such can be profitable. So many people bash Amazon because of their lower tiered commissions and short cookie length (24h) but mainly because they try to apply Method A affiliate marketing to Amazon which requires a Method B.

When affiliating for Amazon it's important to instill a 'buy now' not 'later' mentality in your visitor. Afterall, if they don't buy now or within 24h it's all for nothing anyways. Because of this I've had a lot of luck setting up actual niche stores with carts to check out at Amazon. Because Amazon is such a reputable name online my conversions have been very high at times and earned me far more than any other comparable program. I've been able to do this because I eliminate the short cookie duration and low tier commissions from being a factor. It only takes a few handful of sales to quickly jump up your commission rate.

I wouldn't be writing off Amazon anytime soon based on a few huffy puffy types here in the forums who just don't know how to apply different marketing methods.
