I was busy the last few days and made a bunch of stores selling HIGH VALUE electronics articles of various kind. Usually articles 600 EU and up. I made this stores for amazon.de, the german amazon. I sold a 600 EU part and was excited since i knew it should be about 30 EU commission alone for this item. I check my partner/associate account and see i did not get 30, but a measly 10 EU for this item....at a 1,79% So...i am looking around on the amazon page (i am enrolled in the performance structure).....and all i see is "great" figures about 5% up to 7,5% which i can as an amazon partner for amazon.de BY COINCEDENCE i came along a 3rd party blog where i see an email from amazon.de to someone, clearly stating (hold yourself...): "That for the electronics and photo section the MAXIMUM commission paid for any item is 10EU !!!" <---- which only applies for the "performance structure". No mentioning anything about that "maximum 10 EU" Limit anywhere on the associates-pages ! What an incredible rip-off ! Guys, in Germany our VAT alone is 19%, and i think its an insult to "punish" publishers and people like me who put up sites and sell FOR amazon with such ridiculous commissions...this is like 1,7% on a 600EU item...and a limit of 10EU which is NOT mentioned anywhere. The funny thing is that no one tells you that you can have 4% is you switch over to the classic model..which i of course immediately did. So: I am not sure about the amazon.com structure....but if you're selling electronics and photo i defintly recommend NOT to use the performance structure since 10EU maximum is a joke ! Cheers, Georg.
All of their electronics are on a different commission basis than everything else. It's no secret and is obvious when you are creating links and setting up a store. I don't see how this is Amazon's fault, that is unless you expect them to lose money so you can make a few extra bucks.
i am merely ranting since this is REALLY not mentioned anywhere. On the partner-site it talks about all those great rates up to 7,5%...and you have to go on a 3rd party blog to read about the 10EU cap. Btw. "lose money"..you are kidding, right ? If i sell a EU4000 HDTV and i will get 100 they for sure "wont lose money"...giving partners 10 EU and excusing this with "losing money" is BS....as said our tax here alone is 19%, an WE are the ones helping them sell their stuff on our sites !!! (I am also quite positive that amazon "made" more money from a 600++ item than what i got with the 10EU) btw. that cat looks totally like one of ours
Keep away from Halo(kitty)! Actually you'd be surprised to find out what typical mark up is on electronic items. I've done some digging at the beginning of the year when setting up one of my stores and in that market, it's minimal. The idea is to make it up on volume and the profit gets completely ate away when dishing out commissions. I'll tell you a little secret I found though, link to electronics NOT in the electronics category. Because of this I've been enjoying general commission percentages on electronic items while others are stifled at 4%. cough, cough
good tip ! Problem is...look for example at http://full-hd.sparfritze.de or http://hd-ready.sparfritze.de or http://notebooks.sparfritze.de They're all in the electronics category ;( But i will scour amazon and see what the have in the other categories
