Not sure if this is the best section to post this too, but I couldn't find anywhere more appropriate.. Amazon have just launched their Mechanical Turk site. Basically the idea is to get people doing things that people can do easily but are very complex for computers, and to provide an API for this. At the moment all the projects on there are from Amazon - a tyipical example is picking the best photo out of a group of ten. People get paid for their work, people wanting to use the API pay a fee to the users and comission to Amazon. It's an extremely inventive idea, I'll be interesting to see how it pans out. How long I wonder before people start trying to write automated tools to carry out the tasks?
