There are some components / modules for amazon:
    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/amazon

but i never dound a good solution. So i use relevant ads in content and i changed Virtuemart - Joomla store solution to send user to amazon product page while he use buy button.

    http://stargate-news.com/store/movies.html

My niche - movies, tv shows, dvds, blu-ray, books...... truth is Amazon offers a very low commission.

I generate 80-150 sales per month but if i will use ClickBank with up to 75% commission it can be 10x more in profit.

Problem is CB offers usually crap and scam items so i am not interested of. Amazon offers 4-7% (also 15/20%) commission but they have nearly everything in the stores. They also have a products with great reputation. It is much easier to sell Star Trek Movie DVD than a millionaire manuscript....but ok, people are freaks.

They key of success is in content TARGETED products and in site TRAFFIC.

I forgot to mention a very good Joomla component for generating Amazon affiliate cash.

    jReviews - Reviews for Joomla

If you have a site related to books, movies, music, electronics, or anything elese you can buy on Amazon, you can use this component.

Your site will have a reviews similar to IMDB. You can write your reviews yourself or you can give this option to your members.

I created special review fields where i include amazon item number and system will generate Amazon affiliate link with buttons.
These fields are visible only for administrator (site owner) so no other members can compete.
System will create buy DVD and buy Blu-ray links for movie reviews and Where to buy link for electronics.

    Reviews sample:

    Movie Reviews

jReviews is paid Joomla component but it has a very good value for every Joomla site.

They have two editions: Express and Pro. I bought Pro licence and io am content with that. You must set it and customize it but i love this system.

I use Virtuemart for DVD/Blu-ray product listing and i am content with the results. I just switched to jReviews on a new site and listings look much nicer so i guess conversion will be even better.

But because the site is new everything will depend on traffic. It was not easy to build a good traffic stream for the previous site. But i trust the results will be even better than before....

The component is wonderful. Much better than manual product creation. It has also a good SH404 SEF support and sitemap support what is important for me.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm also trying to workout how to integrate the Amazon Affiliate program into Joomla+Virtuemart.

The best plan I have right now is to enter my selected products into Virtuemart and run it in CATALOG mode, then entering a custom "Buy Now on Amazon" button on each product page. I think this will do well to integrate them together but there are 2 outlying problems.

    1. It's incredibly time consuming.

    2. It doesn't allow much for multiple item orders. Once something clicks an Amazon link on my site, they're gone. It's not like they'll leave Amazon to come back and click on one of my links at that point.

I'd like to hear more about what you guys are doing.

    Hi bheffron,

    you have several options.

    1. If you are interested of allowing people browsing your site, adding a good into shopping cart ...simply use Associate O Matic script - Pro version.

    2. Virtuemart:

I changed add to cart buttons and images to redirect visitor to amazon as you can see in my store:

    http://stargate-news.com/store/movies.html

From my personal experience i can tell, people buying also other products than those they clicked. For example a customer bought a movie after redirection to Amazon and he also bought HDTV as bonus:) Ok, this is really not common behaving but it works.

    Slow processing in VM:

i cannot agree, if you have an access to amazon product feed you can convert for example xml into css and use css improved component to import hundreds of products with few clicks.

Every solution has its own pros and cons.

If you adding a products to VM manually you can create an original content what is great for SEO. Or you can flood your store with thousends products using an VM import or installing an Amazon aff script ( http://www.moviespeople.com/store/index.php - AOM - 10 0000s products in one day) but you have copied content in that case:) I guess a compromise solution is the best way. You have to decide. :) If you have a better idea, leave here a message pls. More brains means higher operation memory frequency:)

Yeah I was growing with Joomla for 4yrs now and just a week ago interest to try my luck on Amazon. There's not much option I believe in Joomla+Amazon world. But I got a little nice php script (only $12/domain - cheap enough compare to AOM) and plane to convert it as a Joomla component. This script has good enough SEF urls I think and most importan to me is the source is not encoded so we can play around with the code to suit our needs.

Maybe you want to see it in action here http://wwww.esimplestore.com and let me know what you thinking.

    Cheers

Amazon is great with Joomla but I find Wordpress way more easier and optimizing a wordpress blog is a lot easier too.
