I've started looking at my Amazon stats more closely lately. One metric I'm focusing on is the overall "referral fees earned per click". This is simply the referral fee earned divided by the number of clicks. Of course, in Amazon, clicks don't necessarily mean anything unless they convert to sales. Still, figuring out the fee/click helps make Amazon earnings somewhat comparable to Adsense where every (legitimate) click has value. For 2008, my Amazon revenue translates to $0.28/click (this is across several sites). I don't think this is too bad based on my experience with Adsense - i.e. I'd be moderately happy with Adsense revenue of $0.28/click. Looking at it this way, the Amazon payouts don't seem so bad. Anyway, wondering if others are willing to share their Amazon Fees per Click.
Mine's $1.50/per sale on average for sales in Nov and Dec. My adsense is a miserable $0.20/click or less. It's not really a useful metric because your revenue depends on the price of the items you sell. If I sell cars, I'll make more of course. It's better to look at the number of sales per month, or specifically at which type of Amazon advertising is getting you money.
It's a number you need to compute: divide referral fees/clicks My experience is that for stores selling high-priced items, it takes many more clicks before a sale is consumated than for lower priced item stores. My individual stores range from $0.03/click to $1.72/click. I'm not sure its a great metric either, but it does make a general comparison with adsense possible. If nothing else, it tells me that for stores where I'm only getting $0.03/click, I may be better off changing over to an Adsense-type site.
Low conversion rate can be caused by many factors. By changing over the Adsense, are you saying that it's because of the publisher that people are not clicking?
