Amazon CPM Network

    Hey all,

    So we all know Amazon is the oldest Ad network on the internet - Launching it's Amazon Associates programme in 1995 before Google or Yahoo's networks were even a twinkle in the internet's eye!

    However, the problem with Amazon Associates has always been that it's CPA. Outside specific periods such a Christmas or specific niche website's most website's make very little money from Amazon Associate's because most people don't go off and buy products at Amazon from any one individual website.

    However, it seems Amazon is now launching a CPM ad network:

    At the moment Amazon CPM is just in it's "Beta" phase and only being offered to a small number of it's Amazon Associates publishers, but this article:

    Say's that Amazon is planning to set up an AdSense alternative (doesn't say whether Amazon CPM will be the network that take's on AdSense, or whether it will be another product. You would think to really rival AdSense, Amazon would have to set up a CPC offering - So I suspect that is probably Amazon's "end game"?)

    I am an Amazon Associates member, but haven't yet been invited to test Amazon CPM.

    Just wondered whether any DP member has tested the programme yet and if so what's it's like?

    With this news, and the news that Facebook is planning to rapidly expand it's ad offerings;

    It seems we're heading into exciting times for online monetization.

    Google has had a monopoly for far too long, IMO. They have been effectively calling shot's when it comes to online advertising for over a decade now. Any credible competition that can truly rival AdSense should be welcomed by anybody who believe's in a "level playing field"?

    We should all wish Amazon well with their endeavor.

    I'll be glad if Amazon takes the stage back with its new ad network. In my opinion, however, that's a big "if".
