I believe so, however I am not so sure it works the other way around.

No you won't You can only earn if someone buy something from Amazon.com. If you want to earn from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.ca or Amazon.fr you need to make separate accounts in each site.

Forgive my ignorance on this but ... i set up my affiliate .com site and register it with amazon.com. Someone in the UK brings up my site .. my question is do they see localised ads ie ones from the .co.uk amazon site or do they see ones from the .com site? Is there any way to code for around this, so that I can get payments from both the .com and the .co.uk sites?

    Thanks gg :)

Amazon opperating their affiliate programs on a country by country basis wasn't something I was aware of - although now I see that they stress this in their own help and faq's (why didn't I see this before?) ... anyways, so how do you detect the country of origin? Online service? Ip address db lookup, different sites or simply look at the language locale? I'd be interested to know how others have addressed this problem :)

    Thanks

This is one of the reasons why some people don't like Amazon associate programme - you'd need to register with all Amazon sites if you want to earn referral fees. What most people do is see where most of their traffic is coming from and target that market. If however, you have the resources, you could have separate Amazon programme that serves each of your targeted region.

You can use a geotargetting script to make sure you are promoting the right links to the right customers...

I know they sell different products. Some products that may not be avalible in the US will be on the UK website and vice versa

Usually for the amount of traffic you get from countries you're NOT directly targeting it's not something to even worry about.
