Amazon API Changes

Just a quick note for everyone, the Amazon API changes come into effect on the 25th October. If you are using the API yourself make sure you check the spec and update:

    https://affiliate-program.amazon.co...nter-1&pf_rd_r=&pf_rd_i=assoc-api-detail-2-v2

Otherwise make sure your script/plugin etc. handles the update and you are prepared to update to a new version :)

What is changing? The only significant change for me is the reduction of the number of pages returned for a search. What this means is solutions like AOM will now be limited to 100 products per category (theoretically less, if you filter out irrelevant products). FSB doesn't work the same way so is not effected by this limit.

Apart from that it is just removing irrelevant features and changing things, which shouldn't have an impact on your sites.

Does anybody know if this API change will affect those WP plugins like Wp-reviewazon and others?

Specifically WP-Reviewazon. If it is just the search results returned then I do not think so, but if it is other changes, these plugins would all need to be updated.

    Thanks for any prompt replies

They added the need for a valid Associate Tag with each request.

Also best to use/send the new API version number as well as older ones won't work at all after 02/21/2012, so no doubt you will need to download and install the latest version of those scripts.

Apart from that amazon EU (.co.uk .fr etc) have changed the required wording on your pages as well, so you need to check that you have both the required wording for both the API and the EU wording visible on your sites, something many sites fall down at.
