Hi all, having just seen my new book uploaded onto Amazon, I want to upload a cover image. However, the automated Amazon upload page only allows for 10 digit ISBN numbers. From now on, all new ISBN numbers have a 13 digit code, but the Amazon page won't accept a 13 digit code as legit. And of course, you can't email a live person at Amazon to point out the error Does anyone know how to get around this? btw for anyone interested my book is "Leaving the Planet by Space Elevator" thanks Phil Ragan
I see a cover here... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...64149?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance It shows the ISBN as 143030006X.
thanks for that, I don't know how the cover got there, but alls well that ends well. I assume from the presentation of the ISBN that Amazon are showing 13 digit ISBN's as a 10 digit ISBN with an X at the end of it. Sounds like a workaround to me Hopefully the real ISBN will appear soon, Phil
13 digit codes don't start until next year... and 'X' is a check digit. Here is the official faq: http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/isbn/us/isbnqa.asp
Not relevant to your question but you might wanna spell/grammar check your book description: layman's revolutionizing "a plan to string a 100,000 km from Earth to space" ... a 100,000 km what? I don't mean to sound pretentious. Just don't want you to lose sales over it Good luck.
thanks for the note on the book description; I have already picked it up, but... its set in lulu.com and picked up by Amazon and its hardwired now, until such time as I decide to release a version 2. As I've collected a small number of spelling mistakes, I'll probably roll them together into a new version at some point, Phil
