The best way is to go after specific model names/numbers as these are easy to rank for. I you set up a niche site on a category name domain then have each product on a separate page with your keyword in the title description h1,h2 and h3 tags as well as 3% of the body of the content. This will be relatively easy to rank for if you have researched your competitors correctly. While waiting to rank in the search engines you could promote your product/products through video to get almost instant rankings and traffic. Hope this helps
Will be working in it....thank you for your thoughts, anyway it might help those willing to work on amazon affiliates.
I never have any luck with amazon as their commission is too low, CPA offers work much better for me as they are pay per lead. I can easily get $1-$3 for each user who submit their email address, rather than someone buy a $40 book from amazon and I get 4% from that.
It seems those who succeed with Amazon have custom scripts and themes that use the API. I haven't had much luck either until last Christmas. The one day cookie is tough to overcome.
Yes, agree with PTBoy - set up a general domain with specific (model numbers and the like) low-competition keywords allocated to separate pages and you'll be fine on amazon. Especially with the higher priced ones.
