For the past week I've been going to directorycritic and using their free directory list sorted by PR, just going down the list and submitting my site to the directories. I've averaged about 100 a day and I'm now on #600 or so. The past 400 or so I think are directories with PR0. Will Google count these links or am I wasting my time submitting to them?
If your submitting the same submission set (title, description, etc.) to hundreds or thousands of directories then you are wasting your time. If you are writing a unique title and description for each submission, then you are doing things right. The bottom line is this... You never know what these directories will become in the months or years ahead. If you properly submit now, you will benefit in the future. Google hates duplicate content, so limit as much duplicate content as you can. Forget about PR and focus on the text you write.
I do not think it is a waste. Most of PR0 directories are free and each of them has a chance to become a big name directory one day. It won't hurt just to get free links, will you?
probably it will not be beneficial now, but they might turn out to be high pr directories in the future. I also like snowboard's advice. if you are doing something that a software could automatically do, then you are obviously wasting time at the end of the day remember, Google is smarter.
I would not base my decision when submitting to a web directory according to its page rank only, i would take a quick navigation into the directory and see what kind of sites are listed there and how they are listed and represented and if its empty or full of spam and by doing that you can decide whether the directory do really have a bright future or if its going to end up banned or dead. Page rank is a good indicator to look at and to consider when submitting to a directory but it can be easily manipulated and it is so, so you should base your decision whether a directory worth submitting to or not according to more clear indicators.
Every effort has its reward... sooner or later. You are anyway getting backlinks for your effort as of now... and in future, if some of these directories get elevated to great PR, they would surely pass on some juice to your site as well! Regards, RightMan
Dont get too wrapped up in high PR links. I have have had sites with decent PR that only show links from other sites with 0 PR.
Submitting unique title & description in 1000 of directories is completely impossible. So, if you are using same title & desc. then may be it is possible that Google counts 3 or 4 back-links by submitting in 100 directories.
You are better off submitting to Yahoo and Best of the Web , but both require an investment which in the case of Yahoo is quite substantial .
Just keep submitting but try to varry your keywords a bit like change your keyword every 30-40 dirrectories.... And after your links are approved PING them for faster indexing !
Yes it is worth submitting to pr 0 sites. These could have higher pr soon and are usually free to submit to. That said you will have to accept that there are a lot of directories out there that are dormant i.e. the owner doesn't check them or approve new submissions any more and these are usually pr 0 sites As mentioned by others here vary your keyword / phrase and description.
in my experience most directories do not show up as "links" in the search engines over the long term. Only good directories will do that.
No..Dear If U r spending ur time on Pr0 Directories .It Doesnt mean U r wasting u r time........ that will helpful for u
Keep Changing title and description for directory submission. Also submit your site into directories related with your site theme. Once approved in niche directories, it will be a quality link for your site since it is related with your site theme.
Yes but I usualy preffer article marketing / blog commenting / Forum Profile Backlinking instead of Directories...
