You are absolutely right. I came back to edit the post to reflect that and it was too late. Rather than bump the thread I let it stand as a clarification since many would not grasp the unstated fact that it is a license granted to the article site publisher and to future users.

Can you post those links as a sticky? It may alleviate a lot of the same type questions that get asked here. But, then again it may not, as there is a search feature :D

Here is another good resource for everyone Digital Millennium Copyright Act

    World International Property Organization

It amazes me as well, that so many people can give such bad information. If you are not well versed in copyright law, do not give advise. I read the law nearly every day, maybe not the whole thing, but I read at least part of it. I also keep up to date with any new legislation that comes down. People should read the DMCA as well.

To all who think just providing a link is legal, you are WRONG.

I recently was awarded 59k dollars for a copyright violation. Long story short, someone took something I wrote, provided a link to it. I told them to take it down, they didn't. I sent legal notice through my company attorney we have on retainer, they still didn't take it down. So I took them to court and won. Didn't even take that long actually, I was in and out in 2 hours. Oh, only 10k of that was legal fees.

So if you people want to think its ok, then you are in for a world of hurt. Also, PayPal doesn't take kindly to people that are gaining money from a copyright violation and will seize the money. (just what I've heard through the grapevine)
