Hi- I'm wondering how much I am taking advantage of international traffic. About half my traffic is non-U.S. I curently have revenue coming in primarily from Chitika, AdSense, Amazon and Shopping.com. My understanding is that Chitika automatically serves up ads to many countries. I believe that Amazon does not. Can anyone tell if AdSense or Shopping.com automatically serve up non-US ads? I'm wondering if I should set up an account with Amazon UK or Shopping.com/DealTime UK. Would I need a physical UK address? I'm not the most technically literate person out there, so I'm hoping that if I go that route, some of these could be served up as alternate ads. Also, can anyone in the EU use Amazon UK or other UK sites? Are they likely to? One of the things that got me going on this (and generated this question too... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=61174) was seeing a UK ad (DealTime) for a specific product served up on a Darren Rowse blog... http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/reviews/canon/canon_powershot_s70.php Lots of questions, I know. Thanks for any help you can offer. And sorry for the non-clickable links. I think this is my tenth post, so hopefully that will be solved soon. Rich Owings http://gpstracklog.typepad.com
Most of your questions are answered in the basic FAQs of the affiliate programs you belong to. Yes, Adsense does have Geotargetting and serves different ads to people in different countries. No, Amazon.com does not show ads/links to Amazons in other countries for visitors from there. As for EU visitors, you should send German speakers to Amazon.de, French speakers to Amazon.fr and English speakers to Amazon.co.uk A lot of work, I know; it's only worth joining up to all the Amazons if you have a sizeable amount of traffic. Otherwise use Adsense which geotargets adverts for you. Finally, no you don't usually need to have a physical presence in a particular country to join an affiliate program or ad network there. Good luck
Thanks for taking the time to reply. That's quite helpful. I suspect my traffic levels don't warrant it yet. I just hate to see so much traffic not getting ads. Rich
